WYFS to Celebrate 25 Years of Service to Community

On Nov. 13, Warrenville Youth and Family Services (WYFS) will hold its annual banquet at the Lisle/Naperville Hilton in Lisle. Proceeds from this fundraising event directly support the counseling, Hispanic outreach, quest, mentoring and community service programs at WYFS, a division of Outreach Community Ministries.

Outreach Community Ministries exists to help people from the community and members from local churches extend compassion and support to those in need. WYFS is a comprehensive community service agency, serving residents in the greater Warrenville area since 1984. This year’s banquet theme, “Hope Is Where the Heart Is,” ties into the agency’s mission of restoring hope and providing opportunities to those who are served.

Jenny Lund, vice president of the WYFS board, feels the banquet provides an opportunity to celebrate Warrenville’s strong spirit of service. “We have something unique within our community that’s not common in many other U.S. communities—the combination of social services support from the government, churches, individuals and companies,” says Lund. “Hope in our community is where the heart is. WYFS truly does restore hope and provide opportunities for those in our community who need it most. The banquet is a time, especially as it is our 25th anniversary, to continue that community support.”

Last year, the event welcomed more than 345 people and raised over $57,000 for the much-needed services and programs at WYFS. The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to request an invitation, please contact Linda Miller at (630) 682-1910, ext. 244, or visit the website at www.outreachcommunityministries.org.
