The 7th Annual Lung Cancer Walk and Rally will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, starting at the Grand Pavilion at the Naperville Riverwalk. Breakfast is at 8:30 a.m., and registration is begins at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. a physician will present information on the newest lung cancer research, followed immediately by the walk. 

Bagpipers will be present for the start of the walk. When the walk steps off, people will walk the first minute or so in silence to honor those currently with lung cancer and in memory of those who died of the disease. In addition, there will be an honor wall where people can pay tribute with a note and/or a photo of their loved one who has fought or is fighting lung cancer.

The walk is free. However, the suggested donation is $20 per person, although donations of any denomination are accepted with gratitude. People can also collect pledges. The walk benefits Lungevity, a 501c3 organization.

Walkers can choose to walk 3/4 mile or 1 1/2 miles, and walkers who pre-register and donate $20 or more before Oct. 20, are guaranteed t-shirt.

Description: Acclaimed children’s author and musician Jim Gill brings his special blend of entertainment and education to Naperville for a fun-filled afternoon with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, November 15th, with two performances at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 East Chicago Avenue in Naperville. These two 1-hour presentations of Symphonic Music Play designed for children and their families will feature all new works by Jim Gill created especially for the symphony orchestra.

On Halloween, just bring as many pennies as you can to the Pennies for Candy Halloween Festival, presented by the Global Poverty Club of Elmhurst College.

There\’ll also be goody bags, prizes and kids\’ activities, like Bozo buckets, mummy wrapping, face painting and more! Be sure to wear your Halloween costume!

Suburban man charged with running $28M Ponzi scheme

A west suburban man has been charged with running a Ponzi scheme in which he allegedly lured at least 60 people to invest about $28 million into his printing company, netting a loss of at least $4.5 million for his investors.
