This year it’s going to be even better! Veggie Fest Chicago 2010 is happening on Saturday, August 7, 11 am – 8 pm and Sunday, August 8, 11 am – 7 pm on the grounds of the Science of Spirituality Meditation Center, 4S 175 Naperville-Wheaton Road, Naperville, IL 60563.

The 7th Annual Lung Cancer Walk and Rally will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, starting at the Grand Pavilion at the Naperville Riverwalk. Breakfast is at 8:30 a.m., and registration is begins at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. a physician will present information on the newest lung cancer research, followed immediately by the walk.Â
Bagpipers will be present for the start of the walk. When the walk steps off, people will walk the first minute or so in silence to honor those currently with lung cancer and in memory of those who died of the disease. In addition, there will be an honor wall where people can pay tribute with a note and/or a photo of their loved one who has fought or is fighting lung cancer.
The walk is free. However, the suggested donation is $20 per person, although donations of any denomination are accepted with gratitude. People can also collect pledges. The walk benefits Lungevity, a 501c3 organization.
Walkers can choose to walk 3/4 mile or 1 1/2 miles, and walkers who pre-register and donate $20 or more before Oct. 20, are guaranteed t-shirt.

Warrenville Park District is holding a Senior Health Fair on Monday November 23rd from 9am-1pm at the Warrenville Park District Recreation Center. Admission is free and all are invited to attend. The event will include information for seniors, caregivers and family members from professionals specializing in senior services such as Bright Star of DuPage Sr. Care, Sunrise Sr. Living of Naperville North, IL Secretary of State Securities Dept., Family Foods of Warrenville, Alden of Waterford, Quality of Life Center, Voices of Vision, Hearing Aid Specialists of DuPage, Fancy Free Holidays Travel, Central DuPage Hospital, and many more. Patrick J. O’Shea of Lombard, DuPage County Board District 2
Named new member of DuPage County Board of Health
Patrick J. O’Shea of Lombard, who represents District 2 on the DuPage County Board, is a new member of the DuPage County Board of Health. He was appointed by County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom.
O’Shea is active in numerous organizations, including professional, educational, community and political groups, in addition to serving on DuPage County Board committees. He is currently the County Board Vice Chairman.
“It’s an honor to join the Board of Health and offer my ideas on how to improve the health of individuals and families throughout DuPage County. Health is so important to everyone. I’m looking forward to assisting the Health Department with its important mission,†said O’Shea.
Linda Kurzawa, President of the Board of Health and a fellow county board member, added: “We are looking forward to the experience and community perspective that Patrick will bring to the Board of Health on how to improve the quality of life for all DuPage County residents.â€
O’Shea replaces Kyle Gilgis, who previously served on both the DuPage County Board and the Board of Health.
The Board of Health meets at 6:15 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the health department’s Central Public Health Center, 111 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.
